Pemimpi (The Dreamer) - A Musical Poetry by Mentari

In October 2014, we are assigned by our teacher at SMP Santa Theresia, Jakarta to produce a video clip. As a group, my friends Sabrina Priska, Stephanie Laurentia and myself decided to have a video of the musical poetry I wrote. The title of the poetry is Pemimpi or the Dreamer. In a few hours, the filming was taken, being edited and DONE. Thanks to Om Ditto who helps us with this spontaneous creativity. Please see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUvsgyR4Wok or here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=VUvsgyR4Wok

Teens seek to end violence against women

Teens seek to end violence against women Indra Budiari, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Headlines | Mon, January 05 2015, 9:37 AM Headlines News Watching movies, hanging out in a shopping mall or chatting in a coffee shop — these are the perceptions most people have about the ways teenagers spend their weekend, but for some young girls a change will not come from those places. Binar Mentari Malahayati, a third-year junior high school student, said that she would take part in the One Billion Rising (OBR) worldwide dance performance to raise public awareness to end violence against women. “We live in an era where violations against women still happen and a lot of women consider domestic violence a common occurrence,” Binar told The Jakarta Post at the dance rehearsal in a house in Kemang, South Jakarta. OBR Indonesia will join the annual global campaign, which was started by American women activist Eve Ensler in 2013, to perform a dance every Valentine’s Day with the mission to urge women to talk, dance and rise up against violence. Binar added that she deplored the fact that a lot of housewives in this country were still stuck in the narrow patriarchy mind-set that allowed them to be a victim of domestic violence committed by their husbands. “We must break the chains of violence and encourage women to speak up when their rights are violated,” the 14-year-old girl said. As the firstborn child of Mugiyanto, former chairman of the Indonesian Association of Families of Missing Persons (IKOHI), the dance campaign was not the first social movement that she engaged in. Binar had joined her parents to stage public rallies on the recent Labor Day on May 1 as well as participated in protests in front of the State Palace every Thursday called Kamisan to demand that the government resolve past abuse cases. “My friends at school said that I take this life too seriously, but my defense is that I do these things for a good cause and I cannot stay silent when there is still injustice out there,” she said. Another teenager, Elsi Yulianti, a 15-year-old senior high school student, said she wanted to take part in the OBR campaign because she was upset with the high number of crimes against women and the ongoing stigma that women were considered a more vulnerable class in society. “A lot of people still think woman are weaker and therefore they treat us differently. Gender equality should be encouraged,” she said. Andi Gunawan from OBR Indonesia said that he appreciated the teenagers’ participation and hoped that there would be more to come on the performance day that would likely be held at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini, Central Jakarta on Feb. 14. More than 300 people joined the cause last year, he said. “Unlike last year, this year’s Valentine’s Day will fall on the weekend so we expect more people to show up,” Andi said. He said although the rehearsal was open for any interested people, would-be participants can also rehearse their moves by watching the rehearsal video that would be uploaded on the website and their YouTube channel. *See more at: http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2015/01/05/teens-seek-end-violence-against-women.html

AFAID 2013

Minna-san konnichiwa!!

Yesterday I went to Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2013 (AFA ID) in Jakarta Convention Center!
Can you guess who am I?
It was very crowded, I could barely walk. The line for the ticket was incredibly long as well.
As you guys know, it's Anime Festival ASIA. So there aren't only Indonesian people there but also other asians, such as: Japanese (doh), Singaporeans, Malaysians, and more!
There were a lot of cosplayer* there!
And of course I also cosplayed.

I bought the Rp.150,000,- ticket. So I didn't see the concert. Which was too bad, 'cause I love ''BabyMETAL''

But it wasn't that bad. There were a lot of very friendly people, cute anime merchandises, and cameras!

Indeed, there are a lot of people asking me for pictures (more than 15, I think?). Sadly though, I don't know where do they upload it :(

*cosplayer: people who dress up as a character from movies, video games, and/or anime

Moonlight
by: Mentari

The moonlight shines
Making the night all fine

Balancing the  sun and day
With night and moon ray

Dark, oh so terrifying.
Moonlight, oh so enchanting

The beautiful moonlight shines
Making the night all fine

Just a note

To all of my readers,
I'm really sorry I can't upload as much posts as I did in 2011, it's actually because I'm trying to get my good grades and it's really hard.
I don't even have time to see my own blog.
But, I'm really happy that I still got 10-30 visitors per day (keep 'em coming!)
I swear I'll update it after my field-trip that I think is in the 11th of December.
Thank you so much for being loyal to my blog!
One view count!

Hanami in Rinshi no mori

HI ALLL!!!!!
I'm really busy with my school that's why I don't update this blog regularly, I'm sooo sorry!
Anywho last week, me and my classmates went to rinshi no mori with Ms. Teresa (my English teacher).
We went there because we already finished our book! YAY!!!
It was sooo beautiful there, the cherry blossoms (sakura) are blooming <3 class="more" hr="">

And Ms. Teresa surprised us with a special and lovely guess......
VIA!!
She was our classmate, but now she goes to a Japanese school, and since the Japanese schools already finished their study (so lucky!) she can go to Rinshi no mori with us!

So there we went to rinshi no mori by our own feet.
And at last when we arrived we all played everywhere, and Ms. Teresa was running everywhere.
Like she was a mother who has 8 children.
Me, Asha, Dinda, and Via climb up to some kind of jungle gym?
And Ms. Teresa took a photo of us three!!
After we got bored of playing we all went to the cherry blossom trees!
It was so beautiful, so the girls took pictures, lots of it!
It was the Best Day Ever!!!

Manga

Dear lovely people that reads my blog,
I'm really into drawing manga now.
I've spent lots of times in the library in the recess when I'm in school.

Happy 3rd Birthday Dibo!!!

In the 4th of March it was Dibo's (my dog) birthday!
Now he is already 3 years old >w< I bought him a dog cloth, even thought I've hated clothes for dogs because it was hurting them, so it's kind of ironic. Anywho, I don't really regret buying him the cloth because it's really match him :33 This is his picture

And yes I know that I've written his years wrong -,-
Sadly, I can't meet him because I'm still in Japan and there is no way I'm going to Jakarta only to arrive for his 3rd birthday.
So I drew a manga about a dog in my favorite anime that looks like Dibo.
And hey! It doesn't look that bad right?
Oh, how I miss Dibo...
